The Plus Ones and the Players

For many young athletes, sport begins long before the whistle blows. It starts with a parent, coach, guardian, or friend. Someone who shows up, cheers loud, and believes, even when the scoreboard doesn’t.

In South Africa, school sports are more than games, they’re where confidence is built, teamwork is learned, and resilience is shaped. But as pressure mounts, the joy of play is under threat. That’s when our Plus Ones matter most. Not to push harder, but to remind us why we started.

Behind every player is someone who made them believe. And while the names on the jerseys change, the support stays. It’s not about medals. It’s about showing up, rain or shine.

They’ve always been there. And they’re not done yet.

Siya Kolisi and Rassie Erasmus

Known for his resilience, leadership, and strength, Siya Kolisi’s journey began in the township of Zwide in the Eastern Cape, where rugby was more than a game, it was a path to something greater. Behind every milestone stood Rassie Erasmus, the coach who first saw his potential, and backed him when it mattered most.

For both coach and captain, it’s always been about more than just rugby; it’s about unity, purpose, and leaving a legacy that outlives the final whistle. And while they’ve already made history, Siya and Rassie are far from done; there’s still more to build, more to give, and more to win, together.
