Toni McCann is a professional trail and ultra-running athlete from South Africa. Toni has made her home in Annecy, France, to aid in training for and racing at the worldβs most significant events. She loves the diversity of training in Annecy, from technical trails and scrambling to more runnable and flowing trails. The mountains there are humbling, and she says itβs a privilege to call them home.
She had her most significant breakthrough in 2023 when she won the UTMB Mont Blanc/OCC and followed it up with a win in the UTMB Mont Blanc/CCC in 2024. She is proud of the consistency with which she has been able to show up at events, and enjoys putting herself up against the strongest women in the sport - iron sharpens iron, as the saying goes. She would call herself a sub-ultra specialist (50km events) who is increasingly curious about ultra-distance events.
Outside of trail running, Toni enjoys a good meal shared with friends, a good sci-fi and fantasy novel and when she's not reading nutrition research papers, helping others achieve their trail and road running goals through coaching.
